Have you already organised your trade fair visit in Frankfurt and are now wondering if you should extend your trip a little? Spend some time exploring this beautiful city on the River Main. A boat trip, for example, offers you an excellent opportunity to explore the city outside the exhibition halls.

A real insider tip for a special experience is to visit the Nordend district, known for its intimate cafés, bars and restaurants. Besides the great vibe, the international delicacies entice you to spend some time there. But if it’s a bit of culture you’re looking for, you should put the Schauspielhaus Frankfurt or the Opera House on your list. Both are internationally renowned and feature first-class performances in their programmes.

Is this your first visit to Frankfurt? Then you should not miss a visit to the historic district, the “Altstadt”. The Römerberg with its historic buildings and the Kaiserdom St. Bartholomäus (St. Bartholomew Imperial Cathedral) are definitely among the highlights. We can also recommend the Städel Museum for one of Germany’s most renowned art collections, with works by Rembrandt, Monet and Picasso.

Do you need some more suggestions? Feel free to contact us, we have more tips for you. We will gladly plan the location of your hotel to accommodate the travel activities you are planning.

Want to wind down after your day at the fair but you don’t know where to go?

We could offer you some recommendations: for instance, the Frankfurt restaurant Apfelwein Wagner. Famous for its “Ebbelwoi” (apple cider), it offers hearty specialities on its menu. We would in particular recommend the “Frankfurter Grüne Sauce” (Frankfurt Green Sauce) and the “Handkäs mit Musik” (regional cheese with onions and vinaigrette). This restaurant is also a favourite with the locals.

Another traditional Frankfurt restaurant to put on your list is the “Apfelwein Dax”. The furnishing is rustic and traditional, while the menu offers a selection of “Rippchen mit Sauerkraut” (pork cutlets with Sauerkraut) and the “Handkäs mit Musik”.

Vegans and vegetarians are also looked after in Frankfurt, namely at the “Vevay”. Here, innovative and creative dishes are prepared using fresh and seasonal ingredients. An open kitchen and bar provide a modern and trendy ambience. Particular highlights are the “Vevay Bowls”, which combine different types of vegetables, protein elements and dressings.

And if you’re looking for an elegant bar, the Long Island Summer Lounge is a good choice. Here you have a breath-taking view of the Frankfurt skyline while your bartender mixes delicious cocktails and long drinks for you.

With an area of 306,000 m2, the exhibition grounds in Frankfurt am Main are one of the largest in the world. Light & Building occupies a total of 13 halls and thus offers plenty of space for exhibitors and visitors. In keeping with the concept of the fair, the exhibition grounds also aim for sustainability and energy efficiency. For example, a large part of the electricity demand is met by renewable energies.

Light & Building 2024 once again provided a glimpse behind the scenes: In the world of lighting technology, there are constantly new developments and trends that change the way we use light. Concepts such as “smart lighting” and “human centric lighting” don’t just sound futuristic. While smart lighting technology enables individual control via an app or by means of a voice assistant, human centric lighting technology goes one step further. It takes into account people’s biological rhythms and adapts the lighting not only to individual needs but also to the time of day.

And, of course, trending topics such as sustainability and aesthetics are also part of the Light & Building programme.

Another focus of the fair in Frankfurt am Main is the electrification and digitalisation of home and building technology. Lighting, heating and security technology – all these areas of your household can be adapted to your individual needs through intelligent solutions. Would you like to know how exactly this works? The exhibitors at Light & Building will be happy to answer your questions.

And visitors can also look forward to an exciting programme in 2026.
